  • India’s first and oldest voter, Shyam Saran Negi (99), lives in Kalpa, Kinnaur.

  • Country’s first polling station for the first general elections ever, was set up at Kalpa in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.

 

  • India’s highest polling station, Hikkim, is also located here. It is situated at 15000 ft above sea level in Lahaul and Spiti district.

 

  • The Spiti Valley has a cold desert high in the mountains that harbors unique wildlife, including endangered snow leopards.
